Yesterday Canon announced the third incarnation in the 5D series, the EOD 5D Mark III. With the recent releases from the Nikon camp, although anticipated, the launch of the of the Canon 5D Mark 3 series did take quite a few including myself by surprise. The rumours on specifications did intensify after the launch of the Canon 1DX but I did not expect it quite so soon.
The Canon 5D series is a full frame (35mm sensor) camera aimed at advanced photographers looking for a lighter body than those available in the 1D series.
While many complained that the 5D Mark 2 lacked in the form of upgrades from the original 5D, it would be far more difficult to make similar complaints this time out, the 5D Mark 3 is a leap and a half over it’s predecessor.
